Cal Tjader - The Prophet (Verve Vault Series) Vinyl LP

Recorded in 1968 in New York and Los Angeles and released the same year on Verve, Cal Tjader's The Prophet blends Latin jazz with an orchestrated approach. Produced by Esmond Edwards and arranged and conducted by Don Sebesky, the album features an ensemble including Joao Donato, Red Mitchell, Ed Thigpen, and Hubert Laws. The tracks draw on jazz, Latin, blues, and bossa nova influences, featuring several compositions written by Donato.
