Talk Talk - Laughing Stock Vinyl LP

Laughing Stock, the fifth and final studio album by Talk Talk, was released in 1991 and marked the band’s sole release on the jazz-based Verve Records following their acrimonious split from EMI. Initially overlooked, the album has since grown immensely in stature and influence, often hailed as a landmark in post-rock and experimental music. Picking up where Spirit of Eden left off, Laughing Stock exists outside the traditional boundaries of rock, creating music that is at once delicate, intense, and deeply spiritual. Recorded with a large ensemble—including as many as seven violists at times—the album’s largely improvised performances and religious undertones contribute to its haunting, transcendent atmosphere.
