Cold Fact is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Rodriguez, released in the United States by Sussex Records in March 1970. Initially a poor seller at home, it found a strong audience in South Africa and Australia, eventually going platinum in South Africa and five-times platinum in Australia after charting there through the late 1970s. Long relatively unknown in the US, Rodriguez’s profile grew after Light in the Attic reissued his albums in 2008–2009 and the Academy Award–winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man (2012) sparked renewed interest and major TV appearances.
