Spiderland is the second and final studio album by American rock band Slint, released on March 27, 1991, by Touch and Go Records. Recorded over four days in August 1990, the album marked a departure from the band's hardcore punk origins, showcasing a unique sound defined by complex rhythms, dissonant harmonies, and unconventional song structures. Vocalist Brian McMahan’s delivery ranges from spoken word to shouting, with lyrics exploring themes of anxiety, loneliness, and despair. Though initially overlooked in the U.S., the album gained a cult following thanks to critical acclaim in the UK and growing word-of-mouth support. Now considered a landmark of post-rock and math rock, Spiderland has influenced a generation of experimental and indie musicians.
